This webinar includes a demonstration of and discussion regarding new features available in the Access & Management Center (AMC) v1.5.1. AMC v1.5.1 features include:

  • New streamlined workflow for NSSP BioSense Platform Data Access Rules.
  • Enhancements for sharing data with adjacent and other sites.
  • Downloadable Data Access Rules for offline review.
  • Improved SQL architecture to better align AMC Data Access Rules with ESSENCE capabilities.

Enhancing Surveillance on the BioSense Platform through Improved Onboarding Processes

In 2017, the National Syndromic Surveillance Program (NSSP) continued to expand as a national scope data source with over 6,500 facilities registered on the BioSense Platform, including 4,000 active, 1,800 onboarding, and 700 planned or inactive facilities. 2,086 of the active facilities are Emergency Departments across 49 sites in 41 states. The growth of data available in NSSP has been driven by continued enhancements to tools and processes used by the NSSP Onboarding Team.

The Evolution of BioSense: Lessons Learned and Future Directions

The BioSense program was launched in 2003 with the aim of establishing a nationwide integrated public health surveillance system for early detection and assessment of potential bioterrorism-related illness. The program has matured over the years from an initial Centers for Disease Control and Prevention–centric program to one focused on building syndromic surveillance capacity at the state and local level.
